Hull hoping Everton reject Niasse can kick-start their survival bid

The odds suggest Hull City’s season will end in relegation, but the Tigers still have a few weeks to bring in extra bodies for the battle ahead.

At 1/9, the Tigers are favourites to go down, but reports are linking the club with a loan move for Everton striker Oumar Niasse.

The 26-year-old only signed for the Toffees 12 months ago in a £15m move from Lokomotiv Moscow.

But Niasse’s Goodison Park career has never taken off, and the striker has made just seven appearances for the club.

Under Ronald Koeman, the Senegal international has been forced to train with the U23s, and has made just one first-team appearance this term, in the EFL Cup.

Hull are woefully short of firepower up front however, with midfielder Robert Snodgrass their top scorer on nine.

And the fact that centre-half Michael Dawson is their second-highest goalgetter tells you everything you need to know.

New boss Marco Silva will be extra keen to bring in bodies this month, with Dieumercy Mbokani heading to the Africa Cup of Nations with DR Congo.

And with Niasse seemingly desperate for some first-team action, a short-term agreement could bring plenty of positives for player and club.

For now, Hull must focus on their EFL Cup semi-final first-leg with Manchester United.

But the bookies odds of 20/1 for a famous win at Old Trafford tonight suggest Silva has a lot of work to do.
