The first round draw for the 2017 Ladbrokes Challenge Cup is upon us with The Deep in Hull the chosen venue to host the prestigious event

Not only is Hull this year’s UK City of Culture, it’s also home to last year’s winners. As such, Hull FC’s cup winning coach Lee Radford will be on hand to help out with proceedings alongside RFL President, Air Commodore Dean Andrew.

A total of 32 teams will enter at the first round stage with the draw set to be made at 19:00 on Thursday January 5.

Those sides will form the first two rounds of the competition with ties set to be played on January 28-29 and February 11-12 respectively.

And without much further ado, here they are…

Hull is well-represented with five clubs in the initial draw. Hull Dockers, West Hull, Myton Warriors and Skirlaugh are joined by Hull University, who are this year’s representatives from the student game.

Meanwhile, The Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Great Britain Police all represent the Services while all eyes will be on Kingstone Press National Conference League champions Siddal.

They beat Kingstone Press League 1 side Newcastle Thunder 30-4 last year and will be eyeing-up more shocks in 2017.

Other NCL teams included are Leigh Miners Rangers and 2016 Challenge Trophy heroes, Rochdale Mayfield.

Lock Lane went on an incredible run to the fifth round in 2016 and feature again while elsewhere Conference League South champions London Chargers will be joined by first-time competitors, West Warriors.

And finally, across the borders the Scottish champions Aberdeen Warriors and Welsh League winners Bridgend Blue Bulls are some of the other names in the hat.
