Liverpool new favourites to land Man City star after latest rumours
Published:
Things may not have gone exactly according to plan at Manchester City for Pep Guardiola, but it’s certainly great to have him in the Premier League.
At least, that’s the opinion of all but probably one person – Joe Hart.
On arriving at the Etihad in the summer, Pep made it clear there would be no short-term future for the England international at City, and that he should seek pastures new.
He did exactly that, securing a season-long loan move to Serie A outfit Torino.
But with the Italian side admitting they won’t be keeping Hart on after this season, it leaves the 29-year-old somewhat in limbo.
Step forward Liverpool.
There’s been plenty of talk over the weekend concerning Jurgen Klopp’s side and Hart. And it’s thought that the Reds will make a bid for the England ace in the summer.
That talk has led to Liverpool now heading the market as the even-money favourites for the former Shrewsbury Town man’s signature.
It’s a position Slaven Bilic’s West Ham had previously held, although they’re now a 2/1 shot.
And it looks like it’ll be a two horse race between the Hammers and the Merseyside outfit for Hart’s signature, as the next available price is 20/1.
Those are odds shared by Stoke City, Arsenal, Watford and reigning Premier League champions, Leicester City.
If Liverpool can keep hold of their place in the top four this year, a move to Anfield would be incredibly tempting for Hart, as he’d be playing Champions League football once again.
Ironically, if the table were to remain as it is right now, and Hart were to join Liverpool – it’d be his former employers that would miss out on a place in Europe’s biggest cup competition.
There’s still a long way to go for that to happen though.
But Liverpool fans have every reason to feel optimistic about the future with a genuine world-class goalkeeper potentially joining their ranks this summer.
