ScottyBetTV previews the Merseyside v Manchester games

The upcoming Merseyside v Manchester double-header has got everyone talking and like many I can’t wait for the action to unfold.
There’s certainly no love lost between the two cities and their respective teams and to have Everton v Manchester City and Manchester United v Liverpool taking place on the same afternoon is a fans’ dream.
Even the neutrals will be crowded around their television sets to witness the passion and intensity shown on the pitch and to experience the red-hot atmosphere from the stands.
But that’s enough of the clichés!
Allow me to introduce myself to Ladbrokes News readers and answer a few questions…
Ladbrokes News: Tell us more about yourself Tony
Tony Scott: I’m Tony Scott, football tipster on my new football betting channel, ScottyBetTV.
I host a Friday night football betting show on YouTube and give my best bets for the weekend, including My Acca, Scotty’s Cert and my fancies for Liverpool and Everton matches.
I am also a digital reporter for the Liverpool Echo, in which I cover all things Everton FC on a matchday and also the Grand National Festival at Aintree.
LN: What’s the best bet you ever had?
TS: I’ve landed a good few Accas in the past but my most recent best bet was Ronald Koeman to become the next Everton manager.
I got our back garden done with the winnings!
Another big bet I hit was Luis Suarez’s move to Barcelona. I can’t tell you how much I wagered as the missus may be reading this!
LN: One that got away?
TS: I remember going on holiday before the 2004 FA Cup Final and totally forgot to put a bet on the match before I left.
I was in the airport trying to call my dad back home (the days before betting Apps and free Wi-Fi) to place a bet on Cristiano Ronaldo to score first goal and Manchester United to win 3-0.
My dad didn’t get the chance to put the bet on for me, and as we all know, it came in.
LN: Where will you be watching this weekend and what’s your routine/betting routine on a big day?
TS: Saturday is by far the biggest day for betting on Merseyside, whether you’re at Aintree or Haydock for the racing, ringside at the Echo Arena or at Goodison Park or Anfield for the football.
It’s very rare that it happens but, if I’m not at the above venues, I’m like everyone else, watching the scores and results filter in and crying out for that last minute winner.
LN: As you know a lot of Merseyside football fans like a bet. What are yours and fans’ ‘go to’ markets for each of their clubs. Cards, goals, corners etc.
TS: Anytime scorer bets are popular in Liverpool. I know a lot of punters that stick with penalty takers every week.
James Milner and Leighton Baines are popular at decent odds. That’s an attractive bet I very much like.
The ‘To be carded’ bet is becoming more common these days and one I tend to have quite a bit of success with.
LN: How do you see the big games panning out – where’s the value in the main markets for Super Sunday?
TS: Manchester United v Liverpool is mouth-watering isn’t it?
Jose Mourinho has beaten Liverpool eight times in the Premier League, more than any other team so you’d be a brave man to back Liverpool at Old Trafford.
Liverpool will need to score two or more goals to win this as I just can’t see them keeping a clean sheet with the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba, Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in attack.
Manchester United to score 2+ goals is around even-money and is my tip in this one.
Down the East Lancs Road, Everton entertain Manchester City at Goodison Park in a fixture that is too tough to call.
Set pieces play a crucial role in Everton’s play at the moment so the value in this fixture lies in Ramiro Funes Mori and Leighton Baines to score anytime.
LN: You’ve also picked out some of our match specials
TS: I like the look of a ‘manager to be sent to the stands’ at 8/1.
Jurgen Klopp or Jose Mourinho could easily lose their head in atmospheric match that no team can afford to lose.
LN: What’s your NAP and NB for the weekend?
TS: A penalty to be awarded in the Sunderland v Stoke match.
Referee Mike Dean has taken charge of 15 Premier League matches so far while awarding 10 penalties in the process.
Dean will be keeping a close eye on Ryan Shawcross from set pieces…
LN : Finally, give us some ante-post predictions for the Merseyside teams
TS: With Everton set to be very busy in the transfer market and already out of the two cup competitions, they have no other option but to win as many league points as possible.
Ronald Koeman’s team are nine points from sixth spot, so it’s a massive task to break into that this campaign.
Romelu Lukaku is still 20/1 to become the Premier League top scorer and at 1/4 odds, 1,2,3 places, that’s a bet I wouldn’t mind being on.
Liverpool are punching above their weight under Jurgen Klopp considering the quality of squads the clubs possess below them.
Their final league position is difficult to predict but I do fancy them to turn the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final around.
I backed the Reds at 9/4 to win the EFL Cup straight after the defeat to Southampton.
They won’t be that price once they turn that deficit around next week.
