Traders aren’t ruling out a potential Keane-Leeds United reunion

Published:

It’s been a while since Leeds United fans saw Robbie Keane plying his trade in the famous white shirt. But 15 years, and 198 goals after last featuring for the Peacocks, there’s an outside chance that the Premier League legend could be set to return to Elland Road.

At least that’s what our traders think.

Keane has told several media outlets of his desire to return to the UK to see his career out.

And while Preston North End are the 4/5 favourites to seal a deal for the forward, we’d be looking at three potential sensational reunions that Keane could perhaps be eyeing up instead.

He’s yet to hear anything concrete from Leeds, but we make it a 12/1 shot that he signs for them this month.

Those are odds you can expect to see take a huge tumble should Garry Monk approach the former Coventry City star.

And it’s news which will surely delight fans, as while nine different players have found the net for the Yorkshire outfit so far this season, they’ve relied heavily on Chris Wood, whose tally currently stands at 16 for the campaign – a career best.

Keane scored 13 goals as a youngster for United between 2001-02 before moving to Tottenham Hotspur where he enjoyed his most prolific spell in England over a long period, netting 80 goals in 197 outings.

The 13th top scorer in the history of the Premier League, despite being 36-years-old, would be welcomed back with open arms at Leeds – who currently find themselves fourth in the Championship table. They’re looking to make their long-awaited return to the top-flight, after 13 years away.

And in Wood and Keane, they’d arguably boast the deadliest attacking partnership in the division.

Meanwhile, our traders are refusing to rule out two other potential reunions.

Having begun his professional playing career at Wolverhampton Wanderers back in 1997, it would be fitting for Republic of Ireland’s all-time leading goalscorer to end his career where he started it.

And it’s 20/1 for that to happen.

Elsewhere, another Midlands outfit will be keeping tabs on potential developments.

Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa side could certainly do with some added firepower up-top, having registered just 28 goals in their debut Championship campaign.

It’s 16/1 for Keane to make a return to the club where he spent three months back in 2012.

So what do fans think?

Could Keane still do a job in the Championship? And if so, who do you see him playing for?
