Liverpool linked with summer swoop for Roma midfielder

Roma’s Leandro Paredes could be Anfield-bound this summer, with the 22-year-old tipped for a move to Liverpool.

The Argentine has been in and out of the Roman squad this season, and it’s believed the Serie A club want to bring in Atalanta’s sought-after Franck Kessie.

Offloading Paredes would help I Giallorossi achieve that aim.

The midfielder has made 17 appearances for Roma in the league this season, but has only been handed six starts by boss Luciano Spalletti.

And over half of his appearances have lasted less than 21 minutes.

Paredes began his career with native giants Boca Juniors, before a somewhat complicated process saw him move to Rome in 2014, via a brief stint with Chievo.

The midfielder made 13 appearances during his first season in the Italian capital, before spending last season on loan with Empoli.

Impressing during his first full season of Serie A football, Paredes made 33 appearances for Azzurri, lasting the full 90 minutes on 18 occasions as Empoli finished a respectable 12th.

Liverpool had been linked with a £25m move last month, although no concrete offer ever arose.

However, with Roma seemingly set on landing Kessie this summer, and the Reds’ recent downturn in form leaving them clearly in need of improving, an off-season move could certainly be on the cards.

After one win in eight, Jurgen Klopp’s men will be hoping to bounce back this weekend away at Hull.

And at odds of 4/9 to win, our odds suggest the Anfield outfit can do just that.
