Milan, Mancini… and Aguero? Man City ace linked with AC switch

Published:

While a number of clubs have been touted as potential destinations for Sergio Aguero this summer, AC Milan’s name hadn’t really cropped up until now.

But as the San Siro outfit near the finalisation of a Chinese takeover, AC could become a very realistic option for the Manchester City ace.

Aguero has found himself on the substitutes’ bench in recent weeks, thanks to the explosive impact of January arrival Gabriel Jesus.

And with sustained reports that boss Pep Guardiola isn’t a fan of Aguero’s off-the-ball workrate, time could be up for the Argentine’s City career.

One of the finest strikers on the planet over the last six seasons, a series of Europe’s biggest clubs have been reportedly keen on the 28-year-old.

Chelsea, Atletico Madrid and the Chinese Super League are regularly among the front-runners, according to the press.

But AC could be about to barge in on all of that.

With a potential takeover set to be confirmed in the coming weeks, Milan will be ready to splash the cash this summer.

And I Rossoneri are set to make Aguero their primary target alongside appointing his former Man City boss Roberto Mancini as manager.

Mancini signed Aguero for Man City back in 2011, and it’s believed Milan hope to improve their chances of signing the striker by appointing the former Inter boss.

Current AC coach Vincenzo Montella has failed to impress, winning just 11 of his side’s 22 league games this term.

Aguero will be entering the final two years of his contract this summer, but is still valued at a hefty £50m by transfermarkt.co.uk.

Of course, should AC’s new owners come good on their promise, this shouldn’t be a problem.
