Premier League Darts: A Taylor win features in our Week Four 14/1 acca

We’re preparing for yet another exciting week of Premier League Darts by pricing up a 14/1 acca for you to get your teeth into.

This week, the PDC circuit travels to The Brighton Centre for Week Four, and with three players level at the top of the table, something will have to give sooner or later.

Can James Wade maintain his unbeaten start? Can Jelle Klassen pick up his first points of the season?

Dave Chisnall v Jelle Klassen – A 180 NOT to be thrown in first leg

This pair have both struggled to get going in this Premier League campaign. Granted, Chizzy picked up his first two points of the season last time out with a win over Kim Huybrechts, but he’s certainly not been convincing.

As for Klassen, he’s faced Peter Wright, Gary Anderson and Michael van Gerwen in the last three weeks – nobody has had a tougher opening trio of fixtures than the Dutchman.

A win would be huge for either player, and we’re expecting a tense affair. But while both are known for their maximum-hitting ability, we’re expecting the early stages of this match to be scrappy to say the least.

Michael van Gerwen v Adrian Lewis – MVG to throw the most 180s

Without question, MVG is the the best player on the planet right now. And while he’s hardly taken the Premier League by storm so far, he’s level at the top of the table after three weeks – and his averages have been out of this world.

Lewis, on the other hand, is struggling to find any kind of consistency in his throw, and while he is capable of an upset, we can’t see him getting the better of Mighty Mike this week.

As averages go, Van Gerwen has been bossing it of late, and that’s largely down to his ability to find maximums at a frightening rate. He’s hit 10 already during this campaign, while Lewis has managed six.

This has to be an acca booster.

Gary Anderson v James Wade – Anderson to win

Wade has been the surprise package of this season so far, and remains unbeaten and level on points with both MVG and Phil Taylor at the top of the table.

But it’s rare Anderson loses two on the bounce – and defeat against Peter Wright last time out means the world number two is already playing catch-up.

A convincing victory over Wade would ensure the Flying Scotsman leapfrogs his opponent. That’ll be his aim this week, but while we’d be tempted to get on Anderson -2.5 at 4/5, we’re playing it safe and just backing him to win at slightly shorter odds.

Phil Taylor v Kim Huybrechts – Taylor to win

Quite simply, we’re baffled as to why the Power is priced so generously here.

He’s been on fire so far this season, and is really enjoying what looks like his last 12 months on the PDC circuit.

Huybrechts isn’t Taylor’s biggest fan, and the pair have had a number of spats over the years.

But more often than not, it’s the former world number one who’s come out on top.

In fact, Huybrechts has only defeated Taylor once in their previous 12 meetings, and lost 7-4 when the two met in the Premier League in 2015.

No player has a better leg difference than Taylor this campaign, and we’re not expecting that to change this week.

Raymond van Barneveld v Peter Wright – Wright to win

Wright heads into this match having pulled off arguably one of the best performances of all-time on the oche last weekend.

Granted, it was a short format which he played, but Snakebite whitewashed Van Gerwen 4-0, recording an average of 133.60.

We’ll say that again.

Wright whitewashed Van Gerwen, with a 133.60 average.

Phenomenal stuff from the world number three, and we’re expecting him to carry that form into the Premier League against an opponent who’s beaten him just once in their last seven meetings.

Barney has had a mediocre start to the season, having tasted victory, suffered defeat and shared the points in his opening three games.

Defeat last time out against Taylor will have hurt him though, and we reckon his opponent will have the beating of him here.
