Real Madrid make Man United stopper #1 target to replace Navas

Published:

Real Madrid’s quest to replace the unfavoured Keylor Navas has seen them strongly linked with a trio of Premier League goalkeepers. But our traders have Manchester United’s David De Gea priced up as a clear favourite to make the move.

The 26-year-old has continued to impress greatly between the posts at Old Trafford, keeping nine clean sheets in 24 Premier League games this season – shipping just 21 goals.

But with De Gea a Madrid native, and the Spanish giants having already come close to signing him back in 2015, this is one rumour which has refused to go away. And it looks like we could finally see the Red Devils stopper finally head to the Bernabeu this summer, at odds of 5/2.

However, if Jose Mourinho does refuse to part with the former Atletico Madrid man this summer, Los Blancos will likely look to another former Atleti stopper, Thibaut Courtois, who’s currently the 9/2 second-favourite for sign Real in the close-season.

But our odds-compilers reckon it’s unlikely we’ll see the final member of the hotly-tipped trio in a Real Madrid kit anytime soon, with Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris 9/1 to join the 2016 Champions League winners in the coming months.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Mourinho could find himself on the hunt for a new number 1 this summer, with Real Madrid looking to finally bring De Gea back to his hometown.”

Next up for Los Blancos is a visit to Osasuna on Sunday night, with 2/9 for Zinedine Zidane’s men to chalk up a fifth victory in six league games.
