Borussia Dortmund boss now 3/1 joint-favourite for Arsenal job

| 20.03.2017

Having headed the betting to be next Arsenal manager for some time, Juventus gaffer Max Allegri now has a serious rival for the job, in the form of Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel.

The German gaffer now sits alongside Allegri at the head of the market, with the pair both 3/1 to succeed Arsene Wenger at the Emirates.

Despite the Gunners board distancing themselves from the story, speculation has continued to intensify, and that’s seen him slashed into joint-favouritism to follow the path of former BvB boss Jurgen Klopp, from Signal Iduna Park to the Premier League.

That pair are followed in the betting by a trio of Eddie Howe, Brendan Rodgers and Leonardo Jardim at 10/1, with Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez a 12/1 shot to take over the reins.

But whoever the new man is, our traders reckon he’ll have to wait his turn for the Gunners’ gig, with odds of 4/6 for Wenger to begin next season at the Emirates.

That means we could see plenty more Arsenal ire to come, with a large number of Gooners disillusioned by the Frenchman’s tenure. And our number-crunchers think it’s perfectly possible he could stay another 2+ years, with that outcome priced up at 6/4.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Wenger looks set to infuriate much of the Arsenal support by refusing to give up his post, but when he finally exits, we reckon Tuchel could be set to take the top job.”
