Look away now, Chelsea fans – you could have a dreadful summer ahead

Published:

Bar a minor blip earlier on in the season, you’d have to say that things couldn’t have gone better for Chelsea since Antonio Conte took over last summer. Top of the Premier League at odds of 1/16 to lift the trophy while still going strong in the Emirates FA Cup, it seems nothing can go wrong at Stamford Bridge right now.

But if you thought that was the case, you’re very much mistaken.

And here’s where supporters might want to stop reading, because our traders have priced up three shock exits when the transfer window opens at the start of the season.

But who could be heading for an exit, and where might they be going?

Willian

Talk of a departure for the Brazilian looked to have died down, following speculation linking him to a move to the Chinese Super League and to Manchester United earlier on in the season.

And while the former seems unlikely now, the latter remains very much a realistic option.

In fact, our traders make it an 11/10 shot for Willian to reunite with former boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, and boy could the Red Devils do with him.

They snatched a similar player in Juan Mata back in 2014, and it’s thought Mourinho’s relationship with the Brazilian will play a huge part in convincing the 28-year-old to move to Manchester.

Interestingly, he approached Mourinho before going over to his current manager after being substituted in last night’s victory over United. Could that be a sign?

It doesn’t end there though, folks. In fact, we’re just getting started…

Eden Hazard

Hazard’s future has been up in the air for some time now, with reports constantly linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

And our traders reckon this may just be the year he leaves the club, having offered 6/4 for that scenario this summer.

It’s no surprise to see Real Madrid at the head of the market for his signature.

As things stand, they’re currently the 4/5 favourites to secure his services. Their transfer embargo will be lifted at the end of the season, meaning they can go out and sign who they want.

Zinedine Zidane will want to make a statement, and there’s every chance Hazard could become a Galactico this year.

But the Los Blancos raid doesn’t end there. The latest odds are suggesting the La Liga giants have their eye on another Chelsea midfielder…

N’Golo Kante

Yep, you read that right.

Despite only signing for the west London outfit last summer, Kante is just 5/2 to leave Stamford Bridge in the next transfer window.

And surprise, surprise, it’s Madrid who are leading the way in this market, too.

Our traders reckon they’ve got a 10/11 chance of adding the Frenchman to their ranks, while 5/2 says he teams up with the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Barcelona.

This one seems to have come out of nowhere, but worryingly for Chelsea fans, the 5/2 on him leaving is dangerously short, and there’ll be plenty of nail-biting going on around west London over the coming months.
