Aberdeen v Rangers: Dons poised to all but seal second place

Derek McInnes - Aberdeen

The pick of this weekend’s Ladbrokes Premiership actions comes from Pittodrie, where Aberdeen host Rangers.

The Dons sit 12 points above their opponents, and know that a win would all but secure second place.

A win for Derek McInnes’ men would move the Dons 15 points clear of the Gers with just 18 left to play for.

And as Evens favourites, our traders reckon Aberdeen are well-placed to do just that.

The Dons have been in sensational form of late, winning each of their last four league games without conceding.

Indeed, they’ve won 15 of their last 17 fixtures in all competitions.

And having conceded just seven goals in that spell, it’s clear where the Dons are at their strongest.

Rangers head into this one 13/5 outsiders, but they can’t be backed with much confidence, having won just one of their last four games.

It’s been a steady if unspectacular start for new boss Pedro Caixinha, but after games versus Hamilton, Motherwell and Kilmarnock, facing Aberdeen will be a whole new test.

Plus, the Ibrox outfit have failed to win their last five games on the road.

So, couple that with Aberdeen’s rock-solid defence, and the Evens on at least one team to not score this Sunday looks appealing.

As does the hosts to keep a clean sheet at 7/4.

Similarly, the Dons last four home games have resulted 1-0, 1-0, 2-0, 1-0.

So another slender 1-0 victory looks good at 7/1, while 2-0 is 9/1.

Rangers are still very much entering a new era, and we fancy the Dons to showcase their advantage this weekend.
