Aintree Day 2 Lucky 15: Mews, Mee and a mighty Bite feature

We’re pulling no punches in our attempts to get lucky on Ladies Day with today’s Aintree quartet each holding leading claims.

Yesterday’s effort was respectable enough. Both Defi Du Seuil and Buveur D’Air justified their skinny odds while the fast closing Balnaslow was a game runner-up in the Foxhunter Chase and Petticoat Tails plugged on for the third in the closer.

However, there’s no time to rest on our laurels.

While Thursday featured a number of short-priced favourites the second installment of this year’s Grand National Festival looks far more competitive.

That said, we’re homing in on those in form with the Top Novices’ Hurdle our first port of call.

Trevor Hemmings’ green and yellow silks have been a notable feature on Merseyside in recent years with 2015 Grand National winner Many Clouds sporting the same colours.

And having won five of his six races, Mount Mews can add to the owner’s scoresheet.

Might Bite features in our general preview as well as this big punt. While the very game Whisper will likely put up another fight we won’t be looking to oppose this year’s eventual RSA Chase winner.

Fox Norton is our main pick for the Melling Chase but for the purposes of this bet we’re going to side with one at a bigger price in Sub Lieutenant.

His fine second in the Ryanair Chase is a very smart piece of form and stamina should be no issue for this Gigginstown House Stud runner.

Finally, last December’s Grand Sefton Chase winner As De Mee is our selection in the Topham Chase.

Here are our Lucky 15 selections:

  1. Mount Mews (14:20)
  2. Might Bite (14:50)
  3. Sub Lieutenant (15:25)
  4. As De Mee (16:05)
