Chelsea evens for Premier League and Emirates FA Cup double

Published:

Chelsea are now just even-money to complete a famous domestic double this season, following their impressive 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Emirates FA Cup semi-final.

That win has seen their outright odds fall to just 8/11 after becoming the first side to book themselves a slot in this year’s final.

And that victory over Spurs also bodes well for Chelsea’s Premier League title hopes, as the momentum should well be with Antonio Conte’s Blues as we head into the business end of the campaign.

Currently some four points clear of Tottenham in the table with just six games to go, the West London outfit are now 1/8 to win the league this season.

Having already fought off the likes of Manchester United and Spurs en route to this year’s Emirates FA Cup final, Chelsea will now face either Arsenal or Manchester City – with the pair meeting at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners are currently 9/2 to win the competition outright, although it’s likely those odds will drop substantially should they get the better of City this weekend.

The same can be said for the Citizens, who are currently 2/1 to go all the way.

As for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, their only chance of winning a title now involves them leapfrogging Chelsea in the top-flight, and 5/1 says they do they between now and May.

But all eyes will be on the Blues now, who are looking to complete a famous domestic double in Conte’s first year in charge.

The Italian gaffer opted to rest Diego Costa and Eden Hazard for much of the game with Spurs this weekend – and it’s clear he considers Tuesday night’s clash with Southampton equally as important as this Emirates FA Cup tie with his side looking to return to winning ways in the league.

At 2/5, our traders certainly think they’re capable of nicking all three points and temporarily extending their gap at the top to seven points with their nearest challengers not playing until 24 hours later.

But what do fans think? Will Chelsea do the double? And if so, would it be the greatest Emirates FA Cup win in recent years given the opposition the West Londoners have faced?
