Conservatives 1/10 to win snap 2017 General Election – 1/5 for a majority
Published:The Conservatives are 1/10 to take the most seats at this year’s snap General Election, according to the latest odds.
Following Prime Minister Theresa May’s surprise announcement of a vote on June 8, the bookies have reacted by instantly making the Tories heavy odds-on favourites for the most seats at 1/10.
And it’s 1/5 in the majority betting, leaving Labour at 7/1 to claim the vote and 12s for a majority.
It’s now also a 1/5 shot that Jeremy Corbyn is replaced as leader of the Labour party before the end of 2017.
The Liberal Democrats are 33/1 to gain the most seats and 66/1 for a majority, while UKIP are 100/1 to win the vote in seven weeks’ time.
The last price on offer for a General Election to take place this year had been 7/2.
Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “May’s change of heart has caught everyone by surprise, but it’s looking hard to see Labour springing their own shock on June 8 with the Tories long odds-on for victory.”
