Real Madrid Champions League favourites following semi-final draw

Published:

The draw for the semi-finals of this season’s UEFA Champions League has been made with Real Madrid the 8/5 favourites to lift the famous trophy in Cardiff.

Zinedine Zidane’s outfit are aiming to become the first team to successfully defend the Champions League following last season’s success and they’re set to face some familiar foes.

Real Madrid and city rivals Atletico Madrid have plenty of recent Champions League history, having contested two of the last three finals.

And they’ll meet again in what promises to be another intriguing match-up in Europe’s premier cup competition.

Diego Simeone’s Atletico are 10/3 to win the European Cup following their 2-1 aggregate win over Leicester City in the Quarter-Finals.

Meanwhile, Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri masterminded a 3-0 aggregate win over Barcelona to reach this stage. His side are 17/10 second-favourites to win the competition for the first time since 1996.

But the Old Lady will have to put on another fine defensive rearguard if they’re to repel Leonardo Jardim’s free-scoring Monaco outfit.

The Ligue 1 side disposed of Borussia Dortmund 6-3 over two legs to progress and the Principality club are interesting 13/2 outsiders.

First leg games will be played on the 2 May and 3 May.

The second legs will be played on 9 May and 10 May.
