The incredible stats behind Celtic’s Ladbrokes Premiership triumph

The split may be yet to arrive in the Premiership, but Celtic have already wrapped up the title, thanks to an imperious 5-0 win at Heart of Midlothian on Sunday.
While few will have been surprised to see Brendan Rodgers’ men make it six league titles in a row, the manner in which they’ve dominated this season has been truly unprecedented.
Here are just some of the incredible stats between the Hoops’ championship win.
15 different goalscorers…
…and counting. Jozo Simunovic became the 15th man to score for Celtic in the league this term, when his deflected effort opened the scoring in the Bhoys’ 2-1 victory at Dundee last month.
That’s the league’s highest total this term, with second-placed Aberdeen having three fewer goalscorers. Impressive stuff.
17 clean sheets in 30 games
The likes of Moussa Dembele and Scott Sinclair may have grabbed much of the glory this term, but the Hoops defence have also kept out the opposition in 56% of their Premiership games this term, conceding just 18 goals in the process.
Prem’s top two scorers
The Hoops were the last club to have the division’s top two scorers, back in 2007-08. And now it looks set to happen again, with Sinclair and Dembele leading the charts right now on 18 and 17 goals respectively, three ahead of their nearest challenger, Ross County’s Liam Boyce.
The late, great show
Every goalscoring stat relating to Celtic this season is impressive, but none more so than the fact Rodgers’ side have now scored 19 (yes, 19) goals beyond the 80-minute mark. We doff our collective caps…
Lisbon Lions’ record smashed
Along the way, the Parkhead outfit breezed past the legendary Lisbon Lions’ record of 26 domestic games without defeat, following a 4-0 victory over Hearts at the end of January.
Since then they’ve extended that run to 36 without loss. And talking of undefeated runs…
The unbeaten season?
No side have gone a whole campaign unbeaten in the Scottish top-flight since the Bhoys did so way back in 1897-98, and that was in an 18-game season. Just eight games separate Brendan Rodgers’ men from that record – and having dropped just four points all season, there’s a high chance of them achieving the incredible feat.
