Through Irish Eyes: Dundalk v Bray is the weekend’s headline game

Good Friday in Ireland is a religious day banning the sale of alcohol and discouraging the eating of meat. So this weekend more than any other fans will be sober, low on energy and in need of something to perk up their spirits.

Thankfully Dundalk v Bray Wanderers headlines what should be an action packed Easter weekend.

Like most games involving Bray, I feel it’s worth checking out the Both Teams To Score market. They have only failed to score in one match from the eight so far this season.

They’re also joint second (along with Dundalk) for the top scoring teams in the division.

It is also worth noting that neither team have drawn a match so far this season, so we should expect a full blooded attacking affair in Oriel Park.

Speaking of the league leaders, I’d expect them to have more trouble cracking open their easter eggs than Bohemians defence this weekend.

Cork are in flying form and have won their last 2 matches 3-0 against arguably better opposition in Limerick and Derry.

While Bohs have conceded 6 in their last two games against sides currently occupying the relegation spots, losing 2-0 to Sligo and 4-0 to St.Pats. Cork City -1 on the handicap at 11/10 looks like easy money.

Limerick take on Drogheda

Finally manager-less Limerick faces Drogheda on Saturday. The Super blues surprisingly parted ways with Martin Russell early last week, just seven games in to the season.

They have since beaten a resurgent St.Pats side and in doing so kept a rare clean sheet. Their leaky defence is the main criticism wagered at Russell during his tenure and I feel it’s an issue without a quick fix.

Drogheda last week ended a run of six defeats on the bounce with a last minute deflected own goal.

It’s fair to say Drogheda rode their luck at times in the match. It’s also fair to say that the winner had a bit of good fortune about it.

It is absolutely necessary however to mention the win was against the ridiculously inconsistent Shamrock Rovers and so, for all the above reasons, it has to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Limerick should have too much at home for this Drogheda side but are likely to ship goals as well.
