Celtic favourites to secure signature of Chelsea prodigy

Last summer, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers produced arguably the signing of the summer by snapping up youngster Moussa Dembele from Fulham. And the Bhoys boss could return to West London to snag another star – Chelsea’s Dominic Solanke.

The Hoops are currently 6/4 favourites to sign the 19-year-old, who is believed to be unhappy with a lack of first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

However, despite not featuring for the Blues’ first team this term, the Basingstoke-born forward has shown he’s well-equipped for senior football. The 19-year-old spent the whole of last season on loan with Dutch outfit Vitesse Arnhem, netting seven times in 25 Eredivisie outings.

Those displays have caught the eye of Rodgers, as well as a number of other managers on these shores. And while our traders make him the favourite to get his man, they could face a summer transfer tussle.

Liverpool are 4/1 for the teenager’s signature, with Tottenham 11/2 shots and West Ham United (6/1) also in the running.

They’re followed by newly-promoted Newcastle United (7/1) and Arsenal (9/1), with Rangers closing out the betting at 12s.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Brendan Rodgers could be set to snap up another young star from south of the border, with Solanke short odds to swap Chelsea for Celtic.”
