ITV Racing Tips: Rekindling can upstage market leaders in the Dante

It’s Dante day at York with the Festival’s signature race set to take centre stage. But what should we expect this Thursday on the Knavesmire?

A deluge of rain wreaked havoc on punters’ best-laid plans yesterday. And while a drier day is in store the official going remains soft.

Just to re-cap on Wednesday’s tipping, Shutter Speed duly obliged for us and fellow favourite backers in the Musidora Stakes while Al Neksh picked up some place money although Wentworth Falls missed out.

Lively Longshot Growl made a bold bid in the Duke of York Stakes but was hampered and eventually finished outside of the frame.

On we go with another quartet of ITV Racing selections…

NAP – Queen’s Trust – 14:55 York

With the absence of So Mi Dar now confirmed, Sir Michael Stoute’s first string Queen’s Trust looks the one to be on with her Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf win the smartest piece of form in the book.

John Gosden still has The Black Princess entered while Stoute’s Smart Call has done well on good ground in South Africa.

But with the way the race has now panned out it’s hard to look past the new jolly.

EDIT – So Mi Dar was the original selection but has been declared a Non-Runner.

NB – Rekindling – 15:30 York

There’s something to like about almost every horse in this year’s Dante Stakes and that’s been reflected by the range of different opinions in the build-up to the 2017 renewal.

British duo Cracksman and Crystal Ocean have been the talking horses but we’re swerving both in favour of Joseph O’Brien’s Rekindling.

Another recruit from David Wachman’s former yard, this son of High Chaparral got out of the blocks quickly this term to land the Group 3 Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown last month.

In doing so he saw off subsequent Derrinstown winner Douglas Macarthur on ground described as good to yielding.

And if displaying the same turn of foot we think he can get the measure of his rivals.

Lively Longshot – Top Notch Tonto – 16:05 York
