John McGinn named Ladbrokes Championship Player of the Season

Published:

Hibernian midfielder John McGinn has won the Ladbrokes Championship Player of the Season award for 2016-17.

The 22-year-old has been superb throughout the campaign, with his inch-perfect passing, tidy control and creativity making him a vital part of the Hibees’ title success.

It’s no surprise the Leith outfit were the Championship’s top scorers with McGinn in their ranks. The former St Mirren man recorded four goals and six assists, providing great service to the likes of Jason Cummings and Martin Boyle, time and again.

Always a man for the big occasion, his strikes included a vital winner at Queen of the South in January, as well as a crucial effort to help Hibs take a point at East End Park during April’s title run-in.

This marks the second successive year that the Glaswegian has lifted this accolade, a feat which reflects his continued progress at Easter Road.

The campaign also saw McGinn make his first competitive appearance for Scotland, as they faced Slovakia in Trnava. A fitting moment to cap at incredible season for one of the nation’s brightest young talents.

Congratulations John!
