Juventus v Monaco: Hosts will set out to frustrate opponents in Turin

Failing a calamity, Juventus will reach their second Champions League final in three years. Quite simply, there’s no reason why anyone should expect them to suffer what would be a huge upset as Monaco travel to Turin for the second-half of this elite clash.

Granted, the French outfit have defied expectation all season, but we see this as a step too far for Leonardo Jardim’s men.

It was the battle of youth versus experience when these two sides met last week, and boy did the latter prevail.

For all of Monaco’s attacking prowess, they just couldn’t break the Italian giants down – and that was on home soil. Their task this time out is even harder.

To stand any chance of progressing, Monaco will need to score two goals at the Juventus Stadium. Only one side has managed that in 14 months in all competitions.

But that’s only half of the job.

They’ll need to net at least two without reply. That hasn’t happened in Turin since April 2013.

Perhaps that explains why the visitors are 4/1 to win the match in 90 minutes, and 12/1 to qualify.

Astonishingly, Juve have kept clean sheets in each of their last six Champions League outings. That includes the first leg of this clash, 180 minutes against Barcelona, two games against Porto and a 2-0 victory over Dinamo Zagreb.

With that in mind, there could be plenty of value in the 7/5 on Monaco NOT scoring – although it would be just the fifth time they’ve failed to net in all competitions this season (60 games).

Gonzalo Higuain netted his 31^st and 32^nd goals of the season in Juve’s 2-0 win over Monaco last week in France, and it’s no surprise to see him head the first goalscorer market here at 14/5.

As for Jardim’s side, Falcao is 6/1 to open the scoring, while 2/1 says he nets at any time.

But if anyone is to get on the scoresheet for the visitors, our money would be going on a certain Kylian Mbappe.

The youngster has been in deadly form this year and has continued to frighten defences across Europe since the first ball was kicked this campaign. Currently with 24 goals to his name this season in all competitions, 13/5 says he makes it 25 on Tuesday night.
