Man City 2/5 favs for Kyle Walker – but Chelsea and Bayern are on the scene

Published:

He may have enjoyed arguably the finest season of his career, but Kyle Walker continues to be linked with a £40m Tottenham departure.

And the latest odds make very interesting reading.

Manchester City remain favourites, and indeed their odds look pretty assured at 2/5.

And it’s not hard to envisage the dynamic Walker slotting nicely into Pep Guardiola’s ethos at the Etihad.

But the latest reports claim both Chelsea and Bayern Munich are now firmly in the hunt too.

We make the Blues 3/1 second-favourites to sign the England international, in a move which would not go down well with Tottenham fans.

And the Bundesliga kings are right there at 7/2.

The Chelsea link does have logic to it. Having not played any European football this season, the Premier League champions will be making a return to the Champions League next term.

And that means Conte needs to bulk up his squad with quality signings.

Few would fit the Italian’s bill better than the marauding Walker, with Conte’s wing-backs system proving key to their success.

And Bayern need to find themselves a successor to club legend Philip Lahm, who called it a day last weekend after 14 seasons with the Munich giants.

It’s believed Walker and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino became embroiled in a training ground disagreement earlier this year.

The full back was subsequently dropped for four of Tottenham’s final 10 Premier League games.

But it might not be all bad news for Walker, who could well be set to enhance his £70,000-per-week salary should he move this summer.
