Peterhead v Forfar: Who will triumph in League 1 play-off final?

Published:

Peterhead and Forfar Athletic do battle on Wednesday night, in the first leg of the Ladbrokes League 1 play-off Final. But will it be the Blue Toon who retain their third-tier berth, or the Loons who climb back up from League 2 at the first time of asking?

It’s Jim McInally’s men who boast the better record in this fixture. They’ve won five of the last seven meetings between the pair, with one draw and a solitary Forfar win.

The first leg takes place at Station Park on Wednesday night, and the Loons will be confident after a 4-2 win against Annan Athletic here last time out.

However, their home record hasn’t been brilliant as a whole in recent months, with just two wins from the last eight in DD8.

As for the Blue Toon, they’ve finally found a bit of form towards the end of a difficult campaign, with three wins and a draw in their last six games.

We fancy them to edge the first leg in Angus, with the visitors 15/8 shots for a first-leg triumph, while Forfar are 6/5 shots and the draw priced up at 23/10.

This game tends to prove an exciting affair, and two of the last seven meetings have ended 3-2 to Peterhead. So a repeat of that scoreline on Wednesday night is worth a flutter at odds of 25/1.

The Balmoor outfit have scored in four of their last five games, while the Loons have netted in each of their previous five. So the 6/10 for Both Teams to Score in the first leg. looks like a banker.

It seems we’re set for a cracking tie. Don’t let us down, guys.
