Tottenham lead race for Hull hero; Everton & Newcastle also keen

Published:

Talk has intensified in recent months over the potential exits of Kyle Walker and Danny Rose from Tottenham. But now the focus is on a possible defensive arrival, with Spurs 13/8 favourites to sign Hull City centre-back Harry Maguire this summer.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign in East Yorkshire, being one of the few shining lights of the Tigers’ doomed Premier League campaign.

While the club did finish the season with the league’s poorest record, it would have been far worse without the powerful, confident and combative defender, who also grabbed three goals and as many assists (in all competitions) at the other end.

That’s naturally led to interest from a host of Prem heavyweights, and while Mauricio Pochettino is currently the gaffer most likely to snap him up, he’s far from the only one in the running.

Everton are 3/1 second-favourites, with the Toffees yet to adequately replace John Stones, who exited for Manchester City last summer.

They’re followed in the betting by newly-promoted Newcastle United at 5/1 – with Rafa Benitez set to splash the cash ahead of the Magpies’ top-flight return..

West Ham United (8/1) are also plausible outsiders for his signature, with the betting rounded out by a heavyweight trio of Liverpool (12/1), Manchester United (16/1) and Arsenal (20/1).
