Can 10/1 trio or long shots end New England Patriots dominance?

New England Patriots are firm favourites to win the Super Bowl for the third time in four years, with Bill Belichick’s 9/2 shots less than half the odds of their nearest competitors.
So, will the Pats come good once again, or can one of the trio of 10/1 shots get their hands on the trophy in Super Bowl LII?
The Foxboro franchise did things the hard way during February 2017’s final against Atlanta Falcons, with the biggest comeback win in the fixture’s history. Trailing 28-3 at one point, the never-say-die Pats eventually triumphed in Overtime.
With their recent pedigree, it’s no surprise to see them firm favourites for another smattering of Super Bowl rings, while 5/2 says they top the AFC for the third time since 2011.
So, who are their most likely challengers for supremacy?
Well, it’s no surprise to see Seattle Seahawks as joint-second favourites. Pete Carroll’s side have been there or thereabouts throughout the past five seasons.
They’ve enjoyed two Super Bowl appearances (winning the trophy in 2013), as well as making it to the Divisional Playoffs in each of the last five years.
Dallas Cowboys are also priced up at 10s, as they look to recapture their glory days. The Texas outfit were champions three times between 1992-95, but haven’t reached a Super Bowl since that period.
And the 10/1 threesome is rounded out by Green Bay Packers, who reached the NFC Championship Final before losing to Atlanta Falcons.
That trio are followed in the betting by last year’s beaten finalists Atlanta (12/1) and Pittsburgh Steelers (also 12s), with the exciting Oakland Raiders priced up at 16s.
Meanwhile, those fancying a plausible long shot could do far worse than the Kansas City Chiefs, with John Dorsey’s side having narrowly exited the Divisional Playoffs last term, following a 12-4 regular season record in the AFC West.
They’re 20/1 to win the Super Bowl, while 10/1 says they top the AFC in the coming season.
