Chelsea and Man United favourites for Borussia Dortmund ace

Chelsea and Manchester United lead the betting for Borussia Dortmund defender Sokratis, who reportedly wants to quit the Bundesliga side.

According to German outlet Bild, the Greek international has grown frustrated at Bayern Munich’s dominance in the title race.

Sokratis has been with Dortmund since 2013, winning two DFL Supercups and a DFB Pokal, but is yet to secure a Bundesliga title.

And with his contract having just two more years left to run, the centre-half could be prime for a move this summer.

Transfermarkt.co.uk rate the 29-year-old at £23.8m in today’s market.

We make Chelsea favourites at 9/4, with Antonio Conte expected to sign at least one defender to succeed Gary Cahill and John Terry.

But Manchester United are right in the mix at 5/2, with continued reports that at least one of, if not both, of Chris Smalling and Phil Jones could leave Old Trafford.

Sokratis joined Dortmund in 2013 from Werder Bremen for just £8m, and has since become a vital cog in BvB’s defence, racking up 155 appearances.

The Kalamata-born defender began his career with Greek side AEK Athens, before joining Genoa and then AC Milan.

Behind the two frontrunners in the betting, Arsenal are 6/1 shots to land Sokratis, with Liverpool at 7/1.

It’s 9/1 the centre-half does the dirty  on Dortmund and joins Bayern, with Real Madrid (10/1) and Manchester City (12/1) rounding out the market.
