Conte frustrated with Chelsea board – but our odds say he’ll stay
Published:
While Manchester City make signing after signing, Chelsea have been rather quiet so far this summer.
And that’s not pleasing news to Antonio Conte.
It’s believed the Blues boss is growing frustrated with the Stamford Bridge hierarchy over their transfer plans.
Chelsea waltzed to last season’s Premier League, and are expected to spend this summer as they prepare to return to the Champions League.
But they’re yet to make any major signings, while City have already spent over £70m on Ederson Moraes and Bernardo Silva.
And while everyone is expecting the West London side to snap up Romelu Lukaku from Everton, things have gone rather quiet on that front too.
So, could Conte leave after just one season of domestic glory in England?
Well, no.
Not according to our odds anyway, which have the Italian at 1/5 to be in charge of the opening day of next season.
It’s 10/3 that he isn’t in the dugout when Chelsea host Burnley in August.
Whichever way you see Conte’s immediate future playing out, nobody would have called the Blues’ summer heading down this path of uncertainty.
They’re 11/4 to win next season’s Premier League and retain their crown.
But they’re behind Pep Guardiola’s side in the betting, with City leading the way at 15/8.
