Hearts 11/8 favourites for ex-Rangers star but odds slashed on Hibs

He’s a three-time league winner in Scotland, is Northern Ireland’s second-highest goalscorer of all time and has also played in the top-flight in England, Switzerland and Turkey. So it’s no surprise to see a host of clubs chasing Kyle Lafferty this summer.

Heart of Midlothian are currently 11/8 favourites to sign the former Rangers man this summer, but there’s been an exciting twist across the city, with Hibernian seeing their odds of signing Lafferty slashed from 11/1 to just 2/1 this afternoon.

The 31-year-old has struggled for game-time at Norwich City since joining the club in 2014, playing just 39 times for the Canaries. And the likelihood of first-team football at both of those sides would be a very tempting proposition for the Enniskillen native.

However, they could face competition from Rangers. Despite their odds of getting Lafferty drifting from 6/5 out to 6/1 over the past six weeks, we’re not ruling out a return for the player who described leaving Ibrox in 2012 as his “biggest mistake”.

The Gers are followed in the betting by Birmingham City (8/1), with the Northern Irishman having spent a brief loan period at St. Andrews in 2016.

And the betting is rounded out by a fellow EFL Championship outfit, Ipswich Town, with 10/1 on offer for the experienced hitman to anger Norwich fans by heading to their fierce rivals.
