Home Of The Brave tops the early betting for this Saturday’s John of Gaunt Stakes at Haydock with the Godolphin-owned runner well-fancied to follow-up on last year’s success.

The Hugo Palmer-trained five-year-old failed to build on that victory but did come close on several subsequent outings last season.

And having made a winning reappearance in a Listed contest at Leicester there’s sure to be plenty of backers for the 7/2 course and distance winner.

The re-opposing Breton Rock is next best at 9/2. David Simcock’s son of Rock Of Gibraltar was third in the Lockinge Stakes last time out and can also count victory over track and trip on his CV, although he could only manage fourth in the 2016 John of Gaunt renewal.

Tabarrak is another eye-catching entrant following last month’s success at Ascot with trainer Richard Hannon opting for a step back down in trip.

The same saddler has also entered Spring Trophy hero Oh This Is Us (7/1) and last year’s sixth, Tupi (10/1).

Elsewhere, Derby runner-up Cliffs Of Moher continues to be backed for next month’s Eclipse at Sandown with Aidan O’Brien’s entrant now 4/1 from 11/2 to take the spoils in Esher.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said; “It’s the third consecutive day that we’ve had to cut Cliffs Of Moher’s odds for the Coral-Eclipse, with support showing no signs of slowing down.”
