Manchester United still odds-on for Griezmann despite Atletico ban

| 01.06.2017

Manchester United will not be stopped in their pursuit of Antoine Griezmann, according to the latest odds.

The Red Devils are 4/11 to land the French international this summer, despite Atletico Madrid being slapped with a transfer ban this morning.

Atletico can still sign players this summer, but are unable to register them until January.

The news had led to speculation that the La Liga outfit would struggle to sign top-quality players – especially in a World Cup year.

And that would have an impact on their departures too, where it can be argued they are now more likely to keep hold of their star men.

But the bookies remain confident Griezmann will head to Old Trafford, and have even trimmed his odds from 8/11.

United are the only realistic contenders in the market, with Real Madrid best of the rest at 16/1.

A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Atletico’s transfer ban could have derailed any hopes Griezmann and Man United had of doing a deal, but it’s now the shortest price yet that the Frenchman becomes a Red Devil this summer.”

Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Barcelona are all considered 20/1 shots, with Manchester City and Bayern Munich the firm outsiders at 25/1 apiece.
