Murray momentum continues as he boosts French and Wimbledon hopes

He’s had a couple of wobbles along the way, but Andy Murray is in the quarter-finals of the French Open.

And though his straight-sets win over Karen Khachanov wasn’t perfect, the Scot is certainly heading in the right direction.

That win followed the three-set victory over Juan Martin del Potro, a match where Murray grew and grew, producing a bagel in the final set.

Plus, with the way the draw has fallen in Paris, there’s a very real chance Murray can reach the final.

And few would have expected that given his form in 2017.

With Rafael Nadal heading for a semi-final clash with Novak Djokovic, Murray will face Kei Nishikori in the last eight, before a potential clash with Stan Wawrinka.

Murray is 7/1 third-favourite at Roland Garros, with Nadal clear leader at 8/15.

The King of Clay has been in sensational form in the French capital.

But should he and Murray meet, the Scot can at least count on the fact he’s won two of the pair’s last three meetings on the dust.

Looking at the wider picture however, Murray’s form in Paris is key for his biggest target aim this summer – Wimbledon.

The 29-year-old has only gone further at three tournaments this year, so it’s a timely return to form.

Murray is 11/4 favourite to win in SW19 next month, and those odds will surely shorten if he continues to deliver the goods in France.
