Pressure is on for England U21s after Sweden stalemate

England had Jordan Pickford to thank in their opening European U21 Championships, but now they need the strikers to come to the fore.

The new Everton goalkeeper saved a penalty in the Three Lions’ 0-0 draw with Sweden, but could really use a win now versus Slovakia.

A failure to do so will leave Aidy Boothroyd’s men under major pressure for their final group game against Poland.

Handily, our traders make England 4/6 favourites to win in Kielce.

Slovakia, who defeated hosts Poland in their opening game, are 21/5.

They were impressive in that 2-1 victory however, so this will be far from easy for England.

That said, Boothroyd’s boys are 9/5 to win with Pickford keeping a second successive clean sheet.

The best bet could be England to win and under 3.5 goals at 11/8.

Or if you fancy England to storm out of the blocks, then they’re 33/20 on the Half-Time/Full-Time.

Boothroyd will be hoping his side can take inspiration from their U20 counterparts, who landed the World Cup earlier this month.

They can count themselves somewhat fortunate to have claimed that draw with Sweden, but they can’t rest on luck any longer.
