Real Madrid and Man United on alert after Donnarumma twist

| 16.06.2017

Super-agent Mino Raiola pulls a lot of strings these days, and the Italian’s latest move is to put AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma on the market.

Raiola has informed the San Siro outfit that their star keeper doesn’t wish to discuss a new deal.

And with the 18-year-old’s current agreement ending in 12 months time, it leaves AC in a major pickle.

It’s a huge blow to the club and their new Chinese owners, who only bought the club last month.

It had been widely expected that AC and Donnarumma would stick together for a decade or more.

He had drawn comparisons with Italy legend Gigi Buffon, who has just finished his 16th campaign with Juventus.

The star stopper is – or was – adored by the Milan faithful, and Donnarumma too showed little signs of ever leaving his ‘beloved’ club.

AC handed him his debut aged just 16, and he has already made over 70 appearances for I Rossoneri.

And with the club expecting to make a return to their glory days thanks to their new owners, it seemed Donnarumma would be at the very core of AC’s future.

Not anymore.

Raiola of course, is merely doing what any agent would do. AC Milan have failed to tie down their star prodigy, and now they have a huge decision to make – and not a lot of time in which to make it.

Having been thwarted in their continued pursuit of Manchester United’s David de Gea, Real Madrid will relish the chance to pounce here.

We make Madrid 1/4 to sign Donnarumma.

This impacts on Man United of course too. Should Real land Europe’s brightest goalkeeping talent, they can finally sleep at night knowing David de Gea is sticking around.

It’s 20/1 United do sign Donnarumma, but that deal will only go ahead if Madrid were to continue – and succeed – their De Gea pursuit.
