Sheffield United favourites for Southend star; 10/11 for Summer exit

Southend United have fended off advances from a host of clubs for midfielder Ryan Leonard…up to now.

But our traders think there’s a good chance the 25-year-old will manage to exit Roots Hall this summer, with Sheffield United favourites for his signature.

The Plympton-born playmaker has spent the last six seasons with the Shrimpers since joining from Plymouth Argyle in 2011, chalking up 23 goals and 14 assists, becoming an absolutely crucial part of the Essex club’s success.

However, they may well need to get used to life without him, with 10/11 on offer for the player to exit Southend this summer.

Chris Wilder’s Blades are 5/2 shots to add the talented midfielder to their ranks this summer, as the South Yorkshire club look to prepare for life in the Championship after last season’s title-winning campaign.

And they’re followed in the betting by the other two sides who made the step up from League One last term, with Bolton Wanderers 4/1 shots, while there’s 6/1 on offer for him to make the short journey to join Millwall.

They’re followed by Norwich City at 7s, with Brentford at 8s, and Queens Park Rangers rounding out the betting at 10/1.

With all that in mind, don’t be the least bit surprised to see him playing in the second tier next term.
