Aidan O’Brien is just 2/7 to be crowned this year’s Royal Ascot Top Trainer and claim the award for the eighth time.

Once again the Ballydoyle handler has an enviable wealth of talent at his disposal with the likes of St. James’s Palace Stakes jolly Churchill, returning Gold Cup hero Order Of St George and leading Coronation Stakes fancy Winter just some of his star names.

O’Brien has trained 55 Royal Ascot winners thus far and is understandably well-fancied to complete a Top Trainer hat-trick in 2017.

Of his current rivals, only Sir Michael Stoute can best that meeting total and he’s next on the list at odds of 6/1.

Prince of Wales’s Stakes favourite Ulysses is amongst Stoute’s big hopes while the Queen’s horse Dartmouth is another to look out for in the Hardwicke Stakes.

John Gosden will be without star filly So Mi Dar following a setback. But, like his aforementioned contemporaries, he’s no stranger to success at the Royal meeting having saddled numerous winners at Flat racing’s standout event.

Fred Darling Stakes heroine Dabyah will bid to serve it up to Winter in the Coronation Stakes and the Newmarket trainer can’t be discounted from taking the top award at odds of 8/1.

We’re into double-figure prices from here on in with Godolphin’s Saeed Bin Suroor a 20/1 shot and Richard Hannon Jr priced at 25s.

Bin Suroor’s colleague Charlie Appleby is an interesting outsider at 33/1 given his runners’ recent form while American trainer Wesley Ward is available at the same price.
