Premier League Countdown: What awaits Dyche and Burnley this season?

The new Premier League season is inching ever nearer, so it’s time to start thinking about how the upcoming campaign will shake out.
In the build-up to the new season we’re profiling each of the 20 top-flight clubs, from Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to Premier League newboys Brighton & Hove Albion.
Our next team in the spotlight is Burnley…
Last season the Clarets did something they’d never done before – avoid Premier League relegation.
That’s huge for the Lancashire outfit, who run along a tight and efficient budget at Turf Moor. But can they do the same again this time around?
They’ll need to address their travelling woes first and foremost, which saw them pick up just seven points on the road last season.
As usual they’ve had to be very measured about summer purchases, but Charlie Taylor looks set for a bright future. Jonathan Walters, Phil Bardsley and Jack Cork are the other Turf Moor new boys, in moves which highlight how keenly Sean Dyche is seeking Premier League experience.
The other good news is that Andre Gray and Sam Vokes look set to stay put, with the pair combining for 19 goals last term.
Michael Keane’s departure will be hard to replace, although it does give the Clarets £30m to spend before the window shuts – and they might need it.
The concern for Burnley though is that the overall strength and quality of the other 19 Premier League sides might catch them out this term.
Newcastle and Huddersfield have spent a substantial amount of money this summer, while Brighton will be very organised under Chris Hughton.

We say: The odds suggest Burnley will finish 18th – and be relegated. They must keep Turf Moor as a fortress while picking up more points on the road. Have added bags of experience this summer which should help do that, but further quality may well be needed.
