Romelu Lukaku’s move to Manchester United is our Premier League Signing of the Week.

We threw a curveball last time by handing the award to Vicente Iborra and Leicester City – but we couldn’t go for anyone but the Belgian this time out.

The move has everything. It’s a massive fee, starting at £75m and potentially rising to £90m.

It has the surprise factor in that Chelsea had been as short as 1/20 to land the Everton hotshot this summer, only to be gazumped by the Red Devils.

And it’s set to cause a chain reaction, with Everton now forced to find a successor to the 24-year-old.

But the headline aspect to this deal is that Lukaku’s arrival at Old Trafford should see the 20-time league champions return to the top.

United’s single biggest problem last time was a failure to take chances.

Creating them wasn’t the issue, far from it. They just didn’t have that goal-getter when it mattered.

Now they do.

Lukaku smashed through the 20 goal barrier en route to 25 for the Toffees last term, and he arrives in Manchester with 85 Premier League goals to his name.

With Juan Mata, Ander Herera and his buddy Paul Pogba providing the assist this season, the 24-year-old is set to reach new heights once more.

And in doing so, he’ll be scoring United back into title contention.

Lukaku is 9/2 second favourite to be this season’s top scorer, while his new side are 10/3 to win the Premier League for a 14th time – and the first in the post-Fergie era.

And that’s why Romelu Lukaku’s move to Manchester United is our Premier League Signing of the Week.
