Apollon v Aberdeen: Dons’ seven-game away streak points to win

Aberdeen betting news

Having impressed during a 2-1 first leg victory over Apollon Limassol, it’s a real surprise to see Aberdeen at such long odds for another victory over the Cypriots – especially considering the Reds’ stunning away form.

We think our trading team have missed a trick – and here’s why…

Derek McInnes’ men have won seven away games on the trot, racking up a mammoth 24 goals in the process. That included a counter-attacking masterclass away to Siroki Brijeg in the last round, as the Ladbrokes Premiership side ran out 2-0 winners.

As for Apollon, they’ve only won four of their last nine games – though the Dons should be wary of a side who’ve netted in 20 successive home matches.

With that in mind, we fancy Aberdeen to win and Both Teams to Score at the generous-looking price of 15/2.

However, if you want to play it safe, Over 2.5 Goals looks like a banker at a tasty 11/10. Six of the visitors’ last seven away games have produced three or more goals, while Kianolefki have seen the net bulge 14 times in their previous four home fixtures.

One man we’re convinced will get on the scoresheet at Tsirion Stadium is Ryan Christie.

The Celtic loanee has scored seven times in Aberdeen’s last nine games, including the opening goal in the Reds’ first-leg victory. He’s an appealing 14/5 to score anytime, while 8/1 says the midfielder opens the scoring for the fourth time in five matches.

As for the hosts, penalty-taker Alex da Silva shouldn’t be overlooked at 13/5 to find the net, with 14 goals since the start of last season.

In the match betting, Aberdeen are our pick at 3/1, with an Apollon win 5/6 and a draw in 90 minutes priced up at 21/10.
