Arsenal to sign Asensio? Our traders reckon £72m move could happen

| 15.08.2017

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Real Madrid superstar-in-waiting Marco Asensio.

Amid more reports that Manchester City are set to test the Gunners resolve with a new £60m bid for Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal in turn are courting Madrid’s latest ace, according to the Sun.

The 21-year-old winger netted a superb strike in the first leg of Real’s Spanish Super Cup clash with Barcelona at the Camp Nou earlier this week.

It was the latest indication of Asensio’s sublime talent, and he’s now netted on each of his La Liga, Copa del Rey, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup debuts.

But the forward, signed from Real Mallorca for just £3.2m in 2014, is reportedly seeking a new and improved contract at the Bernabeu.

Frustrations with his current youth contract may see him listen to what Arsenal have to say, should Arsene Wenger choose to activate his £72m release clause.

And with Real still courting Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe, they may feel justified in allowing Asensio to go in order to make way for the French striker.

Our traders certainly think the move could happen, with just 7/4 on offer for the Spanish international to become a Gunner this summer.

Arsenal fans will be hoping Asensio’s arrival would be in addition to keeping Alexis Sanchez.

The Chilean is odds-on at 4/7 to remain at the Emirates Stadium this season, although Paris Saint-Germain are lurking at 7/4.

And Man City’s 4/1 price may shorten in the coming days, should they be successful with their latest offer.
