Mo Magic: Farah edging closer to Joshua with SPOTY odds cut

Mo Farah - Anniversary Games

After another stunning performance to land the 10,000m at the World Championships on Saturday night, Mo Farah’s odds to win Sports Personality of the Year have been slashed.

The World and Olympic champion is now just 8/1 second favourite to win, having previously been as big as 18/1 just a few weeks ago.

Farah won his tenth – yes, tenth – World Championship gold medal in front of an adoring, rapturous home crowd at the London Stadium, claiming it as his “best ever performance”.

The long-distance runner still has some way to go to beat Anthony Joshua, though. The reigning Heavyweight Champion of the world has had a stunning 2017 and remains the 2/5 hot favourite ahead of Farah.

Having unified the divisions with a win over Wladimir Klitschko in a boxing war for the ages, the Watford-born superstar will take some beating.

Jermain Defoe has dropped to 12/1 third favourite having been as low as 7/1 three weeks ago. The England striker has garnered immense public appreciation for his support in the tragic story of Bradley Lowery.

Tour De France winner, Chris Froome, is at 14/1 to win after adding a fourth TdF crown to his belt.
