Which promoted side will finish highest in the Premier League?

Winning promotion to the top flight is a special achievement, but Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Huddersfield Town are about to discover the hard work is only just beginning.

Staying up is the target this season, which will put them in a position to establish themselves in the years to come.

Which of the promoted teams will finish highest this season? Let’s take a look.

Newcastle United

Newcastle clinched the Championship title in stunning fashion on the last day of the season and they had every reason to be optimistic about their return to the big league.

The Magpies have a good squad, incredible support from their fans, and an iconic stadium.

Most importantly, they have Rafa Benitez in charge.

The Champions League-winning manager transformed the atmosphere at St. James’ Park after being appointed in March last year – after years of disappointment and frustration, suddenly there was hope.

However, he’s annoyed with the club’s lack of transfer activity this summer and he’s now favourite to be the next Premier League manager to leave at 7/2.

If the Spaniard does stay, Newcastle look too strong to go down and our traders have them at 4/7 to be the top promoted club.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton will be thrown straight into the deep end for their Premier League debut, as Manchester City visit the Amex Stadium.

The Seagulls’ 30,000-capacity ground is certainly ready for the big time, but it remains to be seen if the squad will sink or soar.

There is little top-flight experience amongst the players at Chris Hughton’s disposal and Albion have broken their transfer record twice this summer in a bid to strengthen.

First, Mathew Ryan arrived to replace the outgoing David Stockton in goal, then they brought in Dutch international midfielder Davy Propper from PSV.

Marcus Suttner, Pascal Gross, Matthias Normann and Izzy Brown have also arrived, but will it be enough?

Brighton are 9/4 to be the top promoted team.

Huddersfield Town

David Wagner did a remarkable job in taking Huddersfield from 19th in the Championship to the Premier League, via the play-offs.

Keeping them there would be even more impressive, and as he decided to stay in charge, the Terriers can be quietly optimistic of causing a few surprises in their first Premier League campaign.

Huddersfield have been busy in the transfer market to give themselves every chance of staying up.

Aaron Mooy has joined from Manchester City on a permanent basis following his crucial contribution while on loan last season.

Their attack has been bolstered with club-record signing Steve Mounie and Laurent Depoitre, and Tom Ince is one of seven further additions.

They’ve spent heavily and are priced at 11/2 to finish highest of the three promoted sides.
