Liverpool second most-backed team for UCL glory this season

They may be 20/1 outsiders, but plenty of Ladbrokes punters are tipping Liverpool to lift the Champions League trophy this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s men are the most popular selection of the English clubs involved, trailing only current holders Real Madrid (7/2) as far as our customers are concerned.

The Reds breezed past Hoffenheim in the play-off round, and have been rewarded with an eminently winnable group – featuring Sevilla, NK Maribor and Spartak Moscow.

However, they’re far from the only Premier League club proving popular in the betting.

Manchester United (10/1) are the third-most backed side, as Jose Mourinho’s men look to build on last season’s Europa League triumph by lifting Ol’ Big Ears.

They’re followed by Paris Saint-Germain (6/1) whose expensively-assembled side are looking to lift this trophy for the first time ever.

That said, there’s been less confidence put in the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham, with a comparatively small number of people fancying either of the London pair for Euro glory.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “It’s no surprise to see Madrid heading the popularity charts, but plenty of optimistic Reds are fancying Klopp’s boys to upset the apple cart. And at 20/1, May 28 could be a costly night in Kiev for us if Liverpool go all the way.”
