ITV Racing Tips: Kew Gardens to blossom in Zetland Stakes

With live racing from Newmarket and York this Saturday, there’s no shortage of top class action to enjoy as the flat season reaches its crescendo.

In the feature race of the afternoon, Expert Eye will be looking to come out on top in the Dewhurst Stakes.

Meanwhile, 33-runners are set to go to post in the (almost) unpredictable Cesarewitch Handicap – more on that later.

As always, we’ve got everything covered with this weekend’s ITV Racing tips

NAP – Kew Gardens – 13:50, Newmarket

We’re playing it safe this week and going for Kew Gardens to win the Zetland Stakes for Aidan O’Brien.

Why? Well, his performances in black-type contests have been hugely impressive.

He was second only to Nelson in the Juvenile Stakes at Leopardstown in September before bumping into mightily impressive stablemate Saxon Warrior next time out.

The two-year-old sets the standard based on those runs and looks like he has more to give over the extended 1m 2f.

NB – Anythingtoday – 14:05, York

This is a Class 2 contest with plenty of chances.

But we’re siding with the in-form Irish-bred raider Anythingtoday.

He’s placed in all three starts at this level and is backed to finally get it over the line in ITVs first race from York.

Main opponents Chelsea Lad and Big Country offer little to get excited about, with the former winless since 2016 and the latter disappointing in the Cambridgeshire Stakes and Old Newton Cup recently.

With conditions set to suit, we think there’s good value in Hugo Palmer’s runner coming out on top.

Lively Longshot – Who Dares Wins – 15:40, Newmarket

A 35-runner handicap isn’t always easy to get right, but we think we’ve found the answer in Who Dares Wins.

Alan King’s five-year-old played it to perfection in the Cesarewitch Trial last month and we’re backing him to repeat the feat in the real thing.

Since switching from hurdles in the spring he’s proved a game stayer over 2m 2f.

And that could prove crucial, with none of the other 33 competitors having won over this trip.

As Del Boy and Rodney would say, he Who Dares, Wins.
