Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City in for Ajax’s new assist-sensation

Premier League heavyweights Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City could be set for a transfer scrap over Ajax wonderkid Frenkie de Jong.

The 20-year-old has been pulling the strings for the Eredivisie heavyweights, and is building quite a reputation for himself.

Running the show from central midfield, De Jong has already produced six assists in just ten league games this season.

And it’s that form which is attracting attention from the Premier League.

Arsenal and Man City have been linked with the Dutchman for several weeks.

But now Chelsea have entered the fray.

The Gunners connection is clear. They could lose Mesut Ozil for nothing in a few short months, and need to find a natural successor.

Persistent setbacks for the luckless Santi Cazorla will also ensure Arsenal remain active for a new central midfielder.

For Man City, boss Pep Guardiola is looking for someone to follow Fernandinho.

The Brazilian will turn 33-years-old in May, and his time at the Citizens is surely entering its final years.

And while Chelsea are pretty happy with N’Golo Kante and Tiemoue Bakayoko, De Jong would certainly be able to oust his way ahead of Danny Drinkwater at Stamford Bridge.

Ajax are under pressure to keep hold of their new midfield maestro.

The former Willem II ace is out of contract in 2019, and the Amsterdam giants are keen to put a new deal in place.

But with each passing week and another impressive performance, De Jong is courting more and more suitors.
