Debbie McGee heads into Strictly Come Dancing this weekend as the favourite for the first ever time, according to our traders.

After scoring a sensational 40 last weekend Debbie shot to the top of the Strictly leaderboard, as well as the bookies’.

And the 58-year-old now heads into Saturday’s performance as the 7/4 favourite for glory this year.

Alexandra is given a 2/1 chance of being crowned champion, with Gemma and Joe next in line at 7/1 apiece.

Ruth heads the market as the 2/1 front-runner to be axed this week, but should there be another upset on the cards, Debbie’s 50/1 for the chop and Alexandra’s chalked up at 40/1.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Debbie’s on course to break the Strictly age curse, as no contestant – male or female – over the age of 40 has ever lifted the Glitterball trophy. If she keeps pulling 10s out of the bag it won’t be long before she’s the odds-on favourite.”

Saturday’s finale should be a cracker.
