ITV Racing Tips: Mudlark Bristol De Mai is our Lancashire Chase pick

The Lancashire Chase is the highlight of a high-quality afternoon of racing from Haydock and Ascot on ITV this Saturday.

Bristol De Mai looks set to be the star of the seven-race show after Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Sizing John withdrew due to concerns over the forecast heavy ground.

Such testing conditions are not expected at Ascot, where Defi Du Seuil will be looking to extend an eight-race winning run in the Ascot Hurdle at 14:40.

As always, we’ve got you covered for all of Saturday’s key racing action with our ITV Racing Tips…

NAP – Bristol De Mai – 15:00, Haydock

With Sizing John out of the picture, Bristol De Mai should have a clear run at the Lancashire Chase.

Trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies is in fantastic form of late and his stable star will love Saturday’s testing conditions.

The six-year-old kept on well to land the Grade 2 Charlie Hall Chase earlier this month and under regular jockey Daryl Jacob, it’s hard to see the son of Saddler Maker getting beat.

If you needed any more convincing, he’s two from two at Haydock to boot.

NB – Clyne – 13:50, Haydock

Clyne is a horse capable of much more than this Class 2 contest.

He’s a regular in Graded Company these days, finishing in the frame both times at that level.

On his reappearance at Ffos Las last month, the seven-year-old was held by The New One over 2m.

With an extra 3f to help him out this afternoon, Evan Williams’ mount is expected to make the most of the mud to land this Handicap Hurdle.

Lively Longshot – Catamaran Du Seuil – 15:35, Haydock

Haydock’s last race of the day looks a wide-open affair and that could pave the way for Catamaran Du Seuil.

The five-year-old is a handy price for Dr. Richard Newland and like the rest of our picks, he should love the testing ground.

He didn’t travel particularly fluently last time out at Ayr but still managed to scrape to victory. A better ride this time from Bryan Hughes should see him score at each-terms at the very
least.

In a race that lacks quality and heavy ground experience, we think that the appropriately named Catamaran Du Seuil could provide the answer.
