Michael O’Neill early favourite for West Brom job

West Bromwich Albion odds

Michael O’Neill has emerged as the early favourite to take over at West Bromwich Albion.

The Northern Ireland mangher is 4/1 to replace Tony Pulis. West Brom sacked Pulis on Monday after a run of just two wins in 21 league games.

O’Neill has never managed in English club football before but he’s done a great job in charge of Northern Ireland.

He led them to their first tournament in 30 years at Euro 2016. He also took them to the World Cup play-offs this year, though Switzerland scored a controversial penalty to go through.

Alan Pardew is also in the frame at 5/1, followed by Derek McInnes at 6/1 and Sam Allardyce is 8/1.

Whoever comes in will need to turn West Brom’s form around quickly. They’re currently 17th, one point above the drop zone.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “In this situation you’d normally turn to Pulis to rescue your team from the drop, but instead the early betting suggests Michael O’Neill could ditch his country for club football.”
