New West Ham boss Moyes lining up trio of January targets

New West Ham United manager David Moyes is wasting no time in lining up transfer targets, with reports suggesting that he’s lined up a trio of potential January recruits. But one of the club’s big-money may also be heading for the exit.
Reports suggest the Irons boss is keen on reuniting with Lamine Kone, who played under Moyes at Sunderland. Meanwhile, the Scot is also believed to be lining up January moves for AFC Bournemouth’s Harry Arter and FC Porto’s William Carvalho.
However, that potential trio of new additions will cost the Hammers a handsome sum. And it’s believed Moyes is willing to offload big-money flop Marko Arnautovic to free up January funds.
The Austrian cost the Irons £20m in the summer transfer window, but having failed to score or impress in his opening nine games, he could be set for a swift exit.
So, what would the possible additions bring to the Irons’ ranks?
Kone has been one of very few decent performers for a Sunderland side in freefall during the past 18 months. And having worked under Moyes before, he’s likely to fit neatly into the manager’s plans.
As for Arter, the man who joined the Cherries back in their League One days has continued to rise and rise. A reliable performer with a real eye for a pass, he could offer stability to a shaky Irons side in midfield. And with Transfermarkt.co.uk estimating his market value at £2.25m, he could be available for a bargain price.
The Bournemouth ace is also a native Londoner, so a move home could prove tough to resist.
Meanwhile, Carvalho would offer steel and leadership, with the Porto captain boasting the physicality of a tank. All three combined would definitely add balance, quality and experience to the Irons.
Time will tell whether Moyes can get his men and offload the struggling Arnautovic in the process.
For now, the current West Ham crop will be focused on getting themselves out of the relegation zone.
They head to Vicarage Road next Sunday, with Moyes and co. 12/5 to chalk up a vital win in Hertfordshire.
