Our F1 expert fancies Bottas to bounce back in Brazil

So the big fight is all done and dusted, with Lewis Hamilton now a four-time world champion alongside rival Sebastian Vettel.

But with two races still to go this season, the gloves are off as there is little to lose when the frontrunners go wheel-to-wheel on Sunday.

Interlagos has been the scene of many a dramatic title showdown, and while the edge of a title fight is gone from this year’s Brazilian Grand Prix, the iconic venue in Sao Paulo can still provide a thrilling race.

So here are three markets to look out for this weekend.

Bottas to win @ 10/1

Valtteri Bottas made a strong start to his Mercedes career and looked like a genuine title contender until the summer, when Hamilton hit the front.

Bottas struggled for a spell in Singapore and Malaysia, but has been showing signs of a return to form over the past few races.

While he hasn’t stood on the podium in Interlagos before – and hasn’t won a race since Austria this year – the Finn is chasing Vettel for second in the drivers’ championship. Hamilton’s level has dropped in the past when he’s wrapped up the title, so Bottas is worth a punt.

Both McLarens in Q3 @ 4/5

Reliability remains an issue, but the Honda power unit has been improving towards the end of the year and was competitive enough to allow Fernando Alonso to climb into the points from the back of the field in Mexico.

Interlagos requires good power unit performance in the final sector.

But McLaren is often able to negate that deficit in qualifying and with penalties having been taken at the last race on both cars, Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne should get a clean run at the top ten.

First lap Safety Car @ 10/11

The upside to the title battle being complete – coupled with a major fight between midfield teams for constructors’ championship prize money – is the potential for better racing.

There’s little to lose for those at Mercedes, Ferrari, Red Bull and Force India, while the midfield drivers know one position could earn their team millions more in revenue.
